“The National Eucharistic Revival, a three-year initiative sponsored by the Bishops of the United States, is preparing for Year Two – the Year of Parish Revival (2023-2024). The Eucharistic Revival is an historic and important national movement to help the faithful fall in love with Jesus, especially in the Eucharist, and be inspired and equipped to share that love with others. Although our Diocesan Revival Year was subdued, marked by the transition to a new Bishop and the Real Presence Real Future initiative, we have a tremendous opportunity to renew our parishes during the next year. In the nine days leading up to the feast of Corpus Christi, I will be offering Mass and leading Eucharistic processions throughout the Diocese and invite you and your parishioners to participate in these regional events. Thus, we will begin Year Two – the Year of Parish Revival – emphasizing the centrality of the Mass and the Presence of Christ in our communities.” - Bishop Earl K. Fernandes

This phase seeks to foster Eucharistic devotion at the parish level, strengthening our liturgical life through faithful celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, missions, resources, preaching, and organic movements of the Holy Spirit.

A seven week Eucharistic Revival Series entitled “Jesus and the Eucharist” is now available. These are in the format of video and small group with prayer and discussion lasting approximately two hours per session. There is a Kerygmatic Encounter focus that leads to a deeper devotion to the Eucharist. This series can be run at the parish or outside the parish in small or large group formats. Hospitality and a welcoming environment are encouraged as in the other Kerygmatic Encounter series.

Each parish is encouraged to have at least one parish point person to oversee these groups. The success of the parish year of the Revival hinges on the small group initiative, and the success of small group initiative depends on having parish point persons in every parish across the country.

Note: If your parish is already planning to use a kerygmatic encounter series such as Alpha or The Rescue Project, this Eucharistic Revival Series is a great follow-up to one of those. If your parish is not already planning something, the revival series is a great place to start. Parishes can also encourage existing small groups to take a break from what they are currently doing and run this revival series for 7 weeks. Each parish across the country is being encouraged to run the revival series sometime between fall 2023 and Pentecost 2025.
